Step back 250 years into the heart of the American Revolution this winter! Fort Ticonderoga is rolling out its “Winter Quarters” season (November through April) with a powerhouse lineup of immersive living history events, premium behind-the-scenes tours, and hands-on workshops, all under the banner of its multi-year REAL TIME REVOLUTION® commemoration.
The headline event is the 250th Anniversary Reenactment of Henry Knox’s legendary “Noble Train of Artillery,” a pivotal moment in American history. From December 6th to 7th, witness the drama as oxen and horses recreate the arduous first leg of the journey, dragging massive cannon from the Fort to Lake George—the same cannons that ultimately drove the British from Boston. This is a must-see, visual spectacle for media and visitors alike.
Winter Quarters Highlights: Experience the Revolution (November 2025 – April 2026)
The 250th Anniversary Noble Train Event
- December 5, 2025: Premium VIP Experience: Ticonderoga’s Treasures—Knox Edition
- A rare, limited-ticket opportunity to view archival documents, rare books, and artifacts from 1775 that illuminate the start of the Noble Train.
- December 6, 2025: Signature Reenactment: Noble Train Begins
- The cannon selection and proofing are recreated in a day-long event, demonstrating the critical preparations before the epic journey.
- December 7, 2025: The Noble Train to Lake George (Starting 11:00 am)
- Witness the assembly of the largest number of period vehicles since 1775, pulled by oxen and horses, as they recreate the first leg of Henry Knox’s remarkable journey. The procession begins in the town of Ticonderoga (corner of Montcalm Street and Champlain Avenue).
REAL TIME REVOLUTION® Living History Events
Visitors can experience the daily struggles and strategic operations of the Continental Army exactly 250 years later:
- November 8, 2025: Veteran’s Day Weekend Salute: Honoring the first citizen-soldiers and exploring the rigors of the first campaign.
- January 17, 2026: Supplying our Army in Canada: See how sleds and teamsters kept the Continental Army alive with crucial supplies over the frozen Lake Champlain.
- February 7, 2026: The Precarious Garrison: Discover how a small New York garrison maintained the fort through the brutal Adirondack winter.
In-Depth Workshops & Specialized Programs
Go hands-on with history in the popular Winter Workshop Series, taught by Fort Ticonderoga’s professional staff and tradesmen:
- November 15-16, 2025: British Blanket Coats Workshop (Two-day course).
- January 31, 2026: “This is Fair Liberty” Cartridge Box Workshop (One-day course).
- March 7-8, 2026: Leather Breeches Workshop (Two-day course).

Group Visits (15+): Groups can schedule a visit and have the entire property and a dedicated historic interpreter to themselves for a specialized, in-depth tour.
