This prestigious recognition celebrates Fort Ticonderoga’s unparalleled commitment to preserving and interpreting America’s military history through its historic preservation efforts, world-class exhibitions, transformative educational programs, and leadership in America’s 250th anniversary.

Fort Ticonderoga’s ground-breaking historic preservation is considered one of the earliest in America, dating back to 1820 and continuing today with major structural restorations and pioneering battlefield protection for its 2,000-acre landscape. The Museum exhibition and curatorial program is world-class, recently solidified by the historic $12 million acquisition of the Robert Nittolo Collection and showcased in its 5-year exhibition series “A Revolutionary Anthology.” As a leading education institution, Fort Ticonderoga offers rich, daily interpretation, signature events and extensive digital outreach to more than 1200 K-12 affiliates schools across America. Fort Ticonderoga has demonstrated national leadership and innovation with its multi-year America 250th initiatives, including the immersive REAL TIME REVOLUTION® experience and the collaborative 250th Northern Department, highlighting the region’s history, vibrancy and culture.
