Virtual Author Series featuring Robb K. Haberman
The Fort Ticonderoga Author Series features presentations by authors of books related to Fort Ticonderoga’s history. The program takes place virtually at 2pm ET.
In the twilight years of his life, James Selkirk (1757–1820), a modest tailor and Revolutionary War veteran residing in Bethlehem, New York, composed a memoir about his wartime experiences in the Continental Army. Selkirk’s memoir tells the story of a young Scottish immigrant who served well and faithfully as a non-commissioned officer in three different corps from April 1776 through June 1783. During this period, Selkirk fought in several engagements that ranged from the wilderness of northern New York to the waters of Chesapeake Bay.
Robb K. Haberman teaches American history at Fordham University. His current research investigates public memory and civic commemoration of the Revolutionary era. He received his doctorate in history from the University of Connecticut and formerly worked as an associate editor for The Selected Papers of John Jay. He lives in New York City.
Your participation in these online programs supports Fort Ticonderoga’s mission to preserve, educate, and provoke an active discussion about the past and its importance to present and future generations.
