Sarah’s attention to detail when recording provenance information into early inventories of the Pavilion Collection ensured that the information survived, providing a starting point for further research into the objects and their former owners.
The mirror below is the one Sarah purchased from her cousin Grace Channing Setson described on the second page of the inventory (see below). It was passed down through the Channings, the family of Sarah’s great-grandmother Mary Channing Gibbs (1747-1824), once gracing the wall of Unitarian preacher William Ellery Channing’s (1780-1842) home before Sarah purchased it and a handful of other pieces to keep family heirlooms together.
