Family Guided Tours
We know history needs to be delivered to different audiences in different ways, so that’s why we’ve designed a special tour just for families, presented every day in August! This interactive overview teaches visitors of all ages about the armies that made Fort Ticonderoga their home and about how critical Fort Ticonderoga was.
Gunner’s Apprentice
What kid (and kid at heart!) wouldn’t love being a Gunner’s apprentice? We want our guests to learn by doing. This awesome program allows you to help soldiers and sailors as they go about their daily activities. Make sure to stop by the camp kitchen so you can discover what was for dinner in 1781. We’ll also show you how to make a solid pair of shoes, run a tailor shop, and make your very own soldier or sailor cap!
Join a Cannon Crew!
Make sure to catch the Fife & Drum Corps at 3:30 p.m. and practice the steps needed to successfully load and fire cannon at Fort Ticonderoga during the Cannon Crew. This is a kid friendly program that will teach you how every small detail is part of the teamwork of a successful shot. Cannons are not fired during this program.
Bring the whole crew for a ride on the Carillon to enjoy the gorgeous, sweeping vistas of Vermont’s Green Mountains and New York’s Adirondack Mountains during a narrated 90-minute boat tour. Let our friendly and engaging staff guide you through Lake Champlain and teach you all about its history. Visitors of all ages will love this unique Adirondack boat tour! An assortment of beer, wine, soft drinks, and snacks are available for purchase.
In addition to these activities, pass through the Log House Welcome Center, pick up a trail guide at the Guest Service Desk, and take a family hike on the Carillon Battlefield to explore where empires clashed to decide the destiny of North America.
Wait..THERE’S MORE!
These interactive activities will inspire creativity and make history come alive!
