The Fort Ticonderoga Winter Workshop Series provides the opportunity to work alongside expert living historians. During the workshops create items such as knapsacks, cloaks, gaiters, and more! New this year, some workshops are hybrid. Capacity is limited on a first-come, first-served basis.

Great Coats & Cloaks
Hybrid Workshop | December 11-12, 2021
In this 2-day workshop, build one of your choice of outerwear; greatcoat, women’s cloak, sentry’s cloak, or horseman’s cloak. Explore some of the common details of these different forms of semi-fitted foul weather wear.

All Gaiters, Great and Small
Hybrid Workshop | January 29-30, 2022
In this 2-day workshop, build one of the many types of gaiters that appeared on soldiers in Ticonderoga’s military history. Options include French linen gaiters, British spatter-dashers, British half-gaiters, & more. Discover the details and definitions of the many types of gaiters and build your own pair with expert guidance on assembly and fitting.

1750s British Knapsacks and French Havresacs
In-person Workshop | February 12, 2022
In this one-day workshop, build your choice of a British hair-on calfskin knapsack or French canvas havresac and petite sac. Explore the period supply and recent research on their construction.

American Regimental Coats
Hybrid Workshop | March 12-13, 2022
In this 2-day workshop, learn the latest research on Revolutionary War American enlisted regimental coats as you build your own. Discover original construction details and efficiencies to sew these mass-produced garments. Most regimental & campaign details can be accommodated with prior notice.

Camp Cooking
In-person Workshop | April 9, 2022
In this one-day workshop, practice essential camp cooking techniques to make for a great soldiers’ dinner. Explore British and Continental Army rations and recipes from the great campaigns of Ticonderoga’s history.
